Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives Villas Review

By Sunday, October 04, 2015 , , , ,

What is your criteria for the perfect beach holiday? Well my must haves include a monochrome fine sand beach (yes black is cool like at Alila Villas Soori Bali), clear aqua-marine waters, and of course a luxurious villa with the full works, and food of course. The Jumeirah resorts in the Maldives crosses all the boxes and my stay at the Jumeirah Vittaveli resort was nothing short of perfect.
Jumeirah Vittaveli is located a short 20-minute speed boat ride from Malé, which makes it a convenient destination. While a sea plane ride is part of the quintessential Maldivian experience, i find it over hyped and honestly unnecessary, since you can get the same piece of clear blue ocean with gorgeous views practically anywhere in Maldives. Ok granted that not all house reefs are great but JV's reefs were quite amazing. Plus, it saved us a lot of time and pain and we got to spend more time exploring the gorgeous island.
From their Bolifushi location, JV offers 43 beach villas and suites, 46 lagoon villas and suites, with four restaurants and a beach side cocktail bar. All villas come with their own swimming pool and direct access to the beach or lagoon, perfect for snorkeling trips any time you fancy (snorkeling gear provided for free). Connect with high speed complimentary Wi-Fi around the island, or be a couch potato with the free on-demand movies on your Apple TV. Disconnect by exploring the outdoors on the Vittaveli bicycles parked right outside your doorsteps or out at/under the sea with the myriad of water sports available.
Expect great hospitality regardless of the accommodation you pick. Each villa has its own dedicated host who will ensure that your activities and meals run smoothly. The welcome snacks were a nice touch, bubbly included! We were greeted by smiles and engaging conversations everywhere we went and it was really comfortable.
Beach Villas
The beach villas are an oasis of calm with plenty of greenery around and nothing spells nature better than having sand between your toes. Lots of sand!
Don't write off the beach villas just yet. They may not have that postcard factor as the water villas do, but i liked it for the serenity. The high ceilings and blending of the indoor and outdoor space made the 184 sqm area feel way bigger than it is. Spot S lazing around!
The spacious king bed bedroom and a seating area opens out to part of our L shaped pool and cabana with a full queen sized Sala sun bed and the pretty blue.
At the back of the house, you get a walk in wardrobe, plus a semi-outdoor playground (i mean bathroom) which is all kinds of awesome.
Outdoor plus a fully outdoor bathtub and rain shower for post-pool/beach washing.
Marble tub under the moonlight!
There is even a swing! Is it a playground or what?
The dressing area made for a queen. WHEE! And the elegant Antica Farmacista bathroom amenities that leave you smell like one too.
Coming with family? The Two Bedroom Beach Villa/Suite accommodates 2 adults 2 children and 3 adults 3 children respectively.
The Beach Suite spans 2 levels and parents can get their respite from the kids in their ground floor deluxe king bed bedroom with an indoor free-standing bath. It opens to the outdoor shower, pool and beach, as well as the living room.
Upstairs, the kids get their own bedroom with en-suite toilet and showers. Oh by the way, children under 12 stay for free and also get free transfers. Isn't that perfect?
Guests can soak up the views on the second floor open-air terrace, as well as enjoy direct access to the Indian Ocean.
Water Villas

Now the Water Villas are breathtaking from the onset. Our east facing water villa with pool and sunrise view is built directly over the Indian Ocean’s crystalline waters.

The bed has the best view of course (you'll see in a bit). Right in front of it is the infinity pool and the ocean.
To the left of the bedroom is the living room, which is another great spot to lounge indoors. Because of that glass bottom feature! Do you spot a mermaid? ;)
The ocean, colorful house reefs, and pretty fishes are at the foot of your bed. We even spotted a turtle! Who needs a bathroom when you have this?
I'm not complaining about the bathroom though. Sunken indoor tub to the left with a floor to ceiling window view of the pool and ocean. The bathroom has direct access to the pool as well.
Now a view of that infinity pool.
How gorgeous is that?! I would wake up early just for this sunrise.
View from the bed! This is why i refuse to get out of bed!

VERDICT TIME
I LIKE THEM BOTH. Haha. If possible just stay at both. I would say you should stay minimally 3 nights to enjoy all the experiences provided at Jumeirah Vittaveli.
How else would you be able to enjoy the bigger infinity pool, the spa, complimentary wellness activities (click to read), or the stingrays fighting for food every evening!
So yes, this is your 5 star luxury experience just a 5 hour doorstep-to-doorstep journey away from Singapore. I really enjoyed my stay at JV and even made some friends with whom i'm glad to keep in touch with. :)
Till the next time Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives. Pretty sure i will be back in this part soon enough.
